AN: You can read this with other countries as well. I didn't do this with every character, but I wrote the rowing fan fictions for those countries that have won quite a few medals in men's rowing in the 2004-2012 Olympics.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"25 jumping jacks! Go!"

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5..."

You counted with the rest of your team and your observing coaches, as you all stretched every muscle in your body. You were stretching for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil. You were qualified 4 years ago after winning nationals in (country). You're distance that you rowed in just 6 minutes with your boat was amazing and were immediately qualified for the 2016 Olympics.

For those 4 years, you stayed on a strict diet, kept your split time under a 1:56, and managed to get your distance over 7,000 meters in just 30 minutes of erging. You lifted huge weights, ran huge distances for endurance.... you did it all.
And now the time was here. The Olympics.

After you finished your workout, you were rowing in the 8+ boat. You walked onto the deck, boat and ores waiting for you in the glimmering water. You were kinda happy you didn't have to carry the boat into the water like you did in high school. It was already done for you.

You gently step into the boat and sit in the middle, rowing port. (right side) You strap your feet tightly into the boat, while the other women stepped into the boat strapping their feet as well. You look around seeing the other countries you were going to face.

Lane 1: Great Britain
Lane 2: Netherlands
Lane 3: Your boat
Lane 4: Norway
Lane 5: Germany
Lane 6: China

Your coxi steps into the boat, and sits down and turns on her microphone.
"Alright ladies, position 3."
You all bend your knees, causing the slide under your butt to slide forward, the ore squared, hanging just above the water.
"Okay remember ladies, don't forget to breath, controlled slides, fast hands, and push yourselves until you throw up on each other in this boat! That gold medal is ours!"
You all chuckle at her motivation and everything goes quiet when the speaker gets on naming all the rowers and countries in each lane.

"On your mark... Get set."
Your hands tighten on the ore handle, thinking to yourself you'll bloody blisters after this race for sure if you grip it like that.
"Go!"
You slide into position 4, dropping your ore into the water, and then pushing with your legs to pull the ore through the water, and then snapping your shoulder blades back, as you wip the ore out of the water, the handle almost hitting your stomach, where you then push out the handle straight forward, twisting the handle forward to feather, sliding on the slide back into your catch.

"Come on ladies! Row! Row!" Your coxi screamed.

You hear the crowd screaming as the boat fly by, hearing the announcer rapidly speak as you row.

"Thats hard 10-2! Thats 1! That 2, hard 10!"

You row to her loud counting to pull as hard you can

"ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! FIVE! SIX! SEVEN! EIGHT! NINE! TEN! Come on ladies, push IT!"

You were pulling with your all mighty strength and taking a breath for recovery on your slide.

"We have "your country" holding the 1st place, while the Norwegians take the close 2nd, the Chinese and Dutch coming in at a 3rd place, Britain and Germany in at a 5th and 6th!"

You didn't take your eyes off your ore and the person in front of you, not wanting to see the distance between 1st and 2nd place.

"Breathe ladies, Breathe! Fast hands, slow slides, come on! IN time!!"

With only short amount of meters you left, you give everything you've got. If you puke, you puke. Its for the gold anyway.

"I want these 25 strokes to the hardest you have ever pulled! Black out! Black out!"

You listen to your coxi and pulling as hard you can, embracing the pain for the next 25 strokes.

"(country name) is in 1st place, but there's that small chance of the Norwegians making it, but it looks like they're taking home the silver! The Netherlands coming in 3rd. Some of the women in the boat are new, so a bronze will do for them. And then we have China taking the close 4th, Germany in 5th, and the British take 6th."

You pass the finish line, and let go of the handles on the ore, panting and smiling and leaning/falling back onto the girl behind you, herself also panting and smiling. You couldn't believe it. You just won a gold medal! In the Olympics! The freaking Olympics!!

"Excellent job ladies!!" Your coxi said, before turning off her microphone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You walk into the lobby of your hotel, wearing your warm ups, Adidas slides, and your gold medal around your neck. It was late at night because you just got back from dinner with your boat, so there weren't a lot of people in the lobby. You were pretty tired, and looked down at your shining medal, when suddenly you bump into somebody.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!" You look up seeing a dirty blonde and blue eyes. He was pretty hot. You blushed and looked down, seeing he was in Romanian warm ups. Looks like he's an Olympian too.

"Its fine." He said with his thick accent. That made him even more hot!

He blushed softly, and rubbed the back of his neck. "Congratulations on the gold."

"Oh, Thank you. I'm ________ __________." You smiled, and held out your hand to shake.

"Vlad. And I'm aware of who you are." He chuckled and shook your hand gently.

"Oh right.. umm.. heh.." You blushed, not knowing what to say next. You couldn't help it. You got nervous around hot guys. "So... um are you a rower yourself? Or a swimmer? Track runner?" You asked.

"Yeah, I'm a rower. I'm in the coxless four, and 8." He grinned.

"Oh cool. So have you ever coxied?" You asked.

"No." He chuckled. "You?"

"All the time." You giggled.

He blushed softly at your giggle, leading into an awkward silence.

He then asks "So have you ever been to Romania?"

"Can't say that I have. But I would like to. I hear Bucharest and Brașov are nice~" You flirt a bit.

"Perhaps with the money you'll get, you could use it for a plane ticket to Burcharest. I'd like to spend time with you. Maybe we can row in the Black Sea~" He grinned.

"That actually be really cool." You smiled 'He's flirting oh my gosh!' You thought.

"So how long are you staying in Rio?" He asked.

"I leave on Sunday back to (country name)." you replied.

"Well then may I take you out to dinner before then. Lets say tomorrow night?~" He asked.

You smiled and nodded.

He then gave you his number and you both walked separate paths.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Did you know us Romanians were amazing rowers back in the day~" He asked.

You playfully roll your eyes as you watch your boyfriend get the 2 boats ready in the water.

"Were? So are you saying you now suck at rowing?~" You teased.

"Romania was, is, and always will be amazing at rowing~" He chuckled.

"Yeah we'll see about that~ Lets see how well Romania rows against (country name)." You teased.

"There also needs to be a punishment if one us lose." You added.

"Like what?"

"Winner gets to throw loser in the water~, and if I win, you have to carry me to and set up our picnic date~" You said.

"Fine, but if I win you have to do whatever I say for the rest of the day AND I get to wear your gold medal." Said Vlad.

"Someone not settled for silver yet?~" You teased.

"I'm not done in the Olympics yet. I'll get a gold medal just watch." He said, as he wrapped his arms around your waist.

"I will. And I'll be sure to be cheering louder than your coxi~" You flirt as you cup his face.

He then leans down and gently kisses you on the lips passionately.

"te iubesc." He softly says, as his forehead rests on yours.

"și eu te iubesc." You reply softly.

You then both break away and get into the boats, strap in, and grab the ores.

"Ready to get your butt kicked?" Vlad said.

"Yeah right~ I'm going for the bridal carry to that picnic~" You giggle.

He then chuckles and turns his head forward.

"Ready.... Set.... ROW!"
(lol wow its been a while since I've written story that isn't song fic, or lemon XD)
sorry if you don't understand rowing terms ;_;
(I'll translate~)
Split Time: is how long you can row in 500 meters. 2:00 is how long it would take me to row 500 meters.

Erging: Is the technique you use to row, so you can row faster, and use less energy in a race.

8+ Boat: a boat with 8 rowers and 1 coxi

Coxless 4: a boat with 4 rowers. and there is a coxi, but they don't yell commands. They face the bow rather than the stern, and steer.

Coxswain: Someone under 110 ibs (in womens. i don't know the weight in mens) they face the bow (back of the boat) and sit at the stern (the front of the boat) and yell commands to keep everyone in time, motivate them, and to steer the boat, so the boat doesn't go out its lane and get Disqualified, or possibly crash into another boat, or land or a bridge or something. That would be just bad!

Port: is the right side of the boat

Slide: its literally a sliding chair, you sit on in the boat.

Ore: the paddles, you hold/use to move the boat

Feather: no, not the feather on a bird. feathering is when you twist the handle/ore.

Catch: when you drop the ore into the water, after reaching and sliding forward on your slide and then pushing with your legs, pulling the ore  forward in the water, so the boat can go backwards. (which is why you have a coxi)

Hard ten two: is a command coxi's yell. In those 10 strokes is when they want you to pull your hardest.

Black Out: is basically when you just go all out, at the end of the race.

(lol, sorry if i was bad at explaining that XD.
(sorry for any grammar mistakes too XD)
(and sorry if he's too OOC)

---
in case your wondering, yes I am a rower myself. I weigh 104 Ibs, and I actually would like to Coxi in my opinion, but I'm still waiting as to what my coach is going to put me in. (though of course I wouldn't mind rowing either) and Also yes, I'm on the school team and I'm on Varsity. I unfortunately do not have spring break off, I'm going down to northern Tennessee, for training on the water. (its too cold up here in Michigan xD) and then in May or June I go up to London, Ontario in Canada and face the Canadians.

also if your a rower yourself, we should be friends :iconbrohugplz: but even if your not a rower we can be friends too ^3^

note: please do not ask me to write this story but with another country. I chose these countries, because these ones are the ones that have been doing well in mens rowing in the Olympics since 2004 and now. I know there are other countries out there that do well, like China, Denmark, Australia, Hungary, ect ect... but I don't wanna keep publishing the same story over and over again. So please do not be upset. :iconsupertighthugplz:
